This is somewhat overdue, but i realised (thanks to a very kind blog post by The Casual Optimist) that I hadn’t posted the final set of type adorned covers that I produced for Penguins reissue of John Le Carre’s back list earlier in the spring. So here they are.
And this is also a good opportunity to casually mention that I have a new Le Carre sitting on my to-read-urgently pile. It’s one of his best and quite frankly, I can’t wait to get into it. Expect more on that in the fullness of time…
The covers above were art directed by Paul Buckley with design by Paul Buckley and Gregg Kulick.

well fuck…
“Cut Food” is the brainchild of photographer Beth Galton and food stylist Charlotte Omnès. All liquids are suspended with gelatin, making the most mundane snacks into works of art.
too cool
This exact leaf had to grow in that exact way in that exact place so that precise wind could tear it from that precise branch and make it fly into this exact face at that exact moment. And if just one of those tiny little things had never happened, I’d never have met you. Which makes this the most important leaf in human history.
Can I just say that despite the later importance of this leaf I can’t fucking stop laughing at this scene??? Like a leaf drifts in your face and your first instinct is to JERK VIOLENTLY and drop everything you are holding and flail about dramatically oFF THE SIDEWALK INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD and just stare down oncoming traffic??? ARE YOU AN INFOMERCIAL
This is like the artist’s version of when people tell girls “if you don’t want to get raped don’t walk down the street in a short skirt” basically

An Illustration that I’ve slowly been working on during my lunch breaks. I don’t normally take my time quite this much, but it was really enjoyable!
This is available as a hand signed and numbered, limited edition print run in my Etsy shop.
